SHANDON BELLS & TOWER ST ANNE'S CHURCH

Shandon Bells & Tower, located in Cork's historic Shandon district, is one of the city's most iconic landmarks. The tower is part of St. Anne's Church, a stunning 18th-century building fixture of the Cork skyline for over 250 years.

At the top of the tower, visitors can ring the famous Shandon Bells, a set of eight bells that have been in operation since 1752. The bells were cast in Gloucester, England and were initially used to call worshippers to church services. Today, visitors to the tower can climb the narrow stairs to the top and ring the bells themselves, enjoying the stunning views of the city below.

The tower also features a clock face on its four sides, making it a recognizable landmark throughout the city. It has become a symbol of Cork and a must-see destination for visitors.

But the tower and the church of St. Anne's are more than just a tourist attraction - they are vital to Cork's cultural and religious heritage. St. Anne's Church is a beautiful example of Georgian architecture, with its distinctive red and white exterior and ornate features.

Inside the church, visitors can admire the beautiful stained glass windows, intricate wood carvings, and other works of art that adorn the space. The church is still used today, hosting regular services and events for the local community and visitors.

In addition to the tower and the church, Shandon is home to various other historic buildings and cultural attractions. The Old Butter Market, located nearby, is a stunning example of 19th-century market architecture and is now home to a collection of artisanal food and drink stalls.

Shandon is also home to several pubs and restaurants, allowing visitors to sample some of Cork's famous cuisine and hospitality. And for those interested in learning more about Cork's history and culture, several museums and galleries are located in the area, including the Cork Public Museum and the Crawford Art Gallery.

Shandon Bells & Tower and St. Anne's Church are must-visit destinations for anyone travelling to the Cork area. The tower offers stunning city views, the bells provide a unique and unforgettable experience, and the church is a beautiful example of Georgian architecture and religious heritage. So whether you're interested in history, culture or simply enjoying some of Cork's famous sights and sounds, there's something for everyone in Shandon.
